Carolyn Bassingthwaighte, Multi-Media Artist and Instructor

I am looking forward to being a sewing instructor for Cool Stitches. I have so many ideas for classes that I hope will interest you.  I learned to sew from my grandmother when I was nine years old.  By age 10 I was competing in sewing and cooking along with other 4-H’s in our county fair.  I have over the years sewn home dec items, garments and quilts.  My favorite is garment sewing but I also do a lot of machine embroidery.  My sister and I design pattern packs for a variety of totes and purses as well as quilts of all sizes.

In addition to sewing I am a Donna Dewberry certified One Stroke Painting and a Priscilla Hauser certified Decorative Painting instructor.  I have also been an instructor in jewelry making, polymer clay, stenciling and faux finishing.

I am a member of the American Sewing Guild and the Society of Decorative Painters.  I am a past member of Piece Makers Quilting Guild and the Florida Sewing Society.

I live in Fruit Cove, Florida with my husband of 40 years who has always supported and encouraged me to try new things and to share my love of all things sewing and crafting with others, and my dog who loves spending time with me in my sewing room.
