School of Sewing Series

2017: March 26, April 23, May 21, June 25, July 16, August 20, September 17, October 29, November 12, December 10 including generous amounts of open sewing time.

This series is going to be so much fun. We are using Shae Henderson’s textbook, School of Sewing, as our guidebook to work through a series of projects that will introduce and build on your body of sewing knowledge – and you’ll have great small projects to take home! We will cover information such as a review on basic use of your sewing machines, standard sewing tools, and sewing fundamentals, which will be reinforced with each class.

Inspiration Workshops: Watch for sessions to be scheduled beginning in 2018. Sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know!  Our Inspiration Workshops are designed to help you integrate new ideas presented in Threads Magazine or other sources into your sewing projects during the course of sew along sessions. We will select the projects and provide patterns, materials, and instruction to work together as a group on the projects. Project nominations can be sent for consideration for our next session to Debbi.Gray@CoolStitchesJax.com.

Sewing Labs: Bring a sewing project you want to tackle, along with pattern, materials, basic supplies, and sewing machine (if you have one). Work on it with instructors’ guidance. You Can Sew: 3 session workshop focused on various selected garment projects – skirt, pants, shift dress, shirt, blouse – where we work through planning, fitting, and construction of a selected garment. If you don’t complete the garment during the 3 sessions, you can do so during the The Sewing Labs or Open Sewing. We have the patterns, serger, cover stitch machine, rotary cutters and mats, and ironing stations. For advanced beginners and intermediate sewists, as well as advanced sewists who want to brush up on their skills. Up to 15 hours class time. $130 with your sewing machine, Limited seating to ensure quality instruction. $155.00 with a loaner machine.

All classes and workshops require a minimum number of registrations to proceed. Classes and workshops average 3 hours each followed by open sewing periods ranging from 3 – 5 hours with an instructor available for guidance (that’s me!). Project suggestions can be sent for consideration for our next session to Debbi.Gray@CoolStitchesJax.com.

Open Sewing Invitation

Did you know when we have our open sewing time-frames following our classes, you can bring your machine and sewing projects and join us even if you aren’t in the class?

Our sewing venue is a beautiful, well lit space, and we are a growing sewing community you will enjoy. You can bring a project presenting a problem, your next project, or just a UFO (UnFinished Object).

We typically schedule a 2 – 5 hour window of time after our classes based on their end times. Think about how much you can accomplish in the open sewing time frames! Who knows what cool things will develop during these times?!

Our next Open Sewing is October 29th, starting about 6:30 p.m. I know I have something planned for that time! Debbi.Gray@CoolStitchesJax.com for more information.
