Please bring all supplies on day one. You will need a sewing machine with accessories and user manual; a basic sewing kit that includes scissors, pins, tape measure, pin cushion, and seam ripper. If you don’t have everything you need, we have a pop up shop with basics available at great prices. Feel free to contact us in advance to shop for your selections.
Once you purchase your fabric, follow laundering instructions and pre-wash your yardage in advance of our classes. This is very important to ensure a good fit and proper construction.
Let’s start with your robe and lounge pants or shorts (your choice). FABRICS: Cotton and Cotton Blends, Cotton Flannel
Find you size, then identify the width of the fabric you are selecting (typically, 45”). The number at the intersection of these references is the amount, in yards, to purchase for your robe + pants OR shorts. Call me if you have questions.
Highlighted example for a size Medium using 45” fabric is highlighted below.
The result is 3-7/8 (for the robe) + 2-5/8 (pants) = 6-4/8 or 6-1/2 yards.
Table continues on the next page.
|Fabric widths given in inches.|
|Measurement at hipline|
|Nightgown A, B or Top C||421/2||46||50||54||58||ins.|
|Pants or Shorts||411/2||45||49||53||57||ins.|
Now you can choose a light- to mediumweight knit for a coordinating top. FABRICS: Cotton Knits, Jersey Knits, Interlock, Novelty Knits. Most knits come in 60” widths as noted below.
Using the same process, select the column with your size, and then purchase the amount indicated – ONE YARD unless you’re smaller than a 33 ½” bust!
All kids can use 7/8 of a yard.
